Exporting your library

Your data is yours, and you should be able to take it with you. MyCultBox has two exports, and both are on every plan.

Your items as a CSV

In your library, Export sits in the menu behind the dots. You get a ZIP straight away with a CSV, an images/ folder holding your covers and photos, and a README explaining the columns.

What goes in is exactly what's on your screen at that moment: your filters on category, status, organiser and rating come along, and so does your search term. Want everything? Clear your filters first.

The CSV has a column per field — title, category, rating, date, location — plus everything that belongs to a category: author, publisher and ISBN for books, director, runtime and cast for films, musicians, works and companions for the rest, and your personal notes. The column headers are in English, so the file opens without fuss in any spreadsheet. Each row points at the right file in images/ through the Image Filename column.

Your reviews as readable files

On the Reviews page, choose Export. It can take a while — a PDF is made for every review — so the work runs in the background and we let you know as soon as it's ready.

In the ZIP every review gets its own folder with three versions of the same text: .md to edit, .html to read in your browser, and .pdf to print or archive. Images sit next to them in images/ and show up in both the HTML and the PDF, offline too. At the top of every file you'll find the author, the date, the linked item and the original source.

You can filter beforehand for reviews with or without a linked item.

How long they last

The review ZIP stays ready for 24 hours and is cleaned up after that. Too late? Just request it again. The CSV export of your items has no wait and no expiry — that one downloads immediately.

What an export won't do is read back into MyCultBox. To bring data in from elsewhere, see Importing from Goodreads.
